Introduction
If you are an online poker beginner you have come to the right place! Here you can learn how to play most popular online poker games - Texas Holdem, Omaha Poker, and other variants as well as different types of playing such as Multi Table Tournaments, Single Table Tournaments and Cash (Ring) Games.
One of the best ways to learn is by practicing with free money on DTD Online Poker tables to help give you a better understanding of poker basics. Poker is a type of card game whereby players bet on the strength and value of their hands (card combinations) against other people on the table. Players can represent they hold a strong hand when they actually don't, this is called Bluffing. The winner of a round either produces the highest hand combination, or becomes the only player remaining in the pot (community amount of chips) after all other players have folded (laid down their cards). It is easy to learn to play poker but it takes a lifetime to master. To start you just need to know the hand rankings and betting strategy which you can learn online here at DTDonlinepoker.com Betting and Play
Poker is about making the best 5 card hand. Each player gets dealt their hole cards (starting hands). Play moves clockwise around the poker table starting from a dealer button represented by a disc. The players to the left of the button post a small and big blind (this starts the action before cards are dealt).

Call, Raise or Fold
Once the cards have been dealt each player has the option to call the big blind (put chips into the pot to match the big blind amount), raise (put chips into the pot at least double the big blind) or fold (passes their cards to the dealer and is out of the hand). The Flop
In Texas Holdem the first three community cards are dealt face up in the middle and players combine their starting cards with the community cards to create their best hand. Each player clockwise will get the option to check (pass the action to the next player if there has been no previous bet), make a bet and put chips into the pot or fold their cards and leave the current hand. The Turn
Once the betting is complete, the dealer will place a fourth card in the community area. Now there are 6 cards available in total to make the best 5 card hand. Players may stay in the hand even if they don't yet have a made hand as they may want to try hit a draw such as a flush or a straight. More experienced players will learn the mathematical poker odds of particular cards they need being drawn. Another round of betting takes place. The River
The final card is dealt and the last round of betting. If more than one player remains in the hand there is a showdown in which the players turn their hole cards face up and the best hand wins the pot, if only one remains as all others have folded they win the pot by default without having to reveal their hand. |
